Introduction
ICED is an evening college in Karachi for graduates who want to teach at secondary level. We offer one programme, the B.Ed. (2.5 years) Secondary, and the degree is awarded by the University of Karachi.
Who we are
Iqbal College of Educational Development (ICED) is a project of EDLAB Foundation, a Karachi non-profit that has trained school teachers since 2016. The college prepares graduates to teach at secondary level. It is affiliated with the University of Karachi, which awards the degree, and our B.Ed. (2.5 years) Secondary is accredited by the National Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (NACTE).
Why evenings
Many people decide to teach after they have finished a first degree and started work. Classes run from 3:00 to 8:00 pm so that you can keep a daytime job, look after your family or go on teaching in a school while you study.
How we teach
Teaching is learnt by doing it, thinking about it and doing it again. Alongside your coursework you plan lessons, teach them to your classmates, listen to their feedback and try again. In the final semester you teach in a secondary school for an extended period, guided by a mentor teacher and a member of our faculty.
Most course material is shared as soft copies, and you are expected to read, write and take part in discussion every week.
Where we are
The college is at C-70, Block 10, F.B. Area, near Ayesha Manzil, Karachi. The office is open from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, and you are welcome to visit before you apply.
