What the programme involves
The B.Ed. (2.5 years) Secondary prepares you to teach at secondary level. It is designed for graduates who hold a two-year Bachelor’s degree in a subject other than Education and want to become qualified teachers.
Over five semesters you complete 90 credit hours. Sixty are in education: how students learn, classroom management, assessment, curriculum, research and educational leadership. Thirty are in your two teaching subjects, with three content courses and a pedagogy course for each. The final semester centres on a long-term practicum in a secondary school.
The scheme of studies is set by the University of Karachi’s Department of Teacher Education, which also conducts the examinations and awards the degree.

You choose two subjects to teach. For each one you take three content courses, a pedagogy course and teaching practice.
