Dear reader,
If you are reading this, you are probably thinking about teaching. Perhaps you have a degree in chemistry, economics or English and have found that what you enjoy most is explaining it to someone else. Perhaps you already teach and want the training and the qualification to do it properly. Either way, you are welcome here.
Teaching is skilled work. A good lesson looks simple from the back of the room, but behind it lie careful planning, a clear sense of what the students already know, and the judgement to change course when something is not working. Those skills can be learnt, and the B.Ed. (2.5 years) Secondary is designed to teach them.
We hold our classes in the evenings because many of the best future teachers are already working or caring for a family. The programme asks a great deal of you: regular reading and writing, lessons planned and taught in front of your classmates, and a long placement in a school in your final semester. In return, you leave with a University of Karachi degree and the confidence that comes from having taught real classes.
Before you decide, I would encourage you to visit the college, ask your questions and meet our faculty. We would be glad to see you.
